Writers have great opportunities to earn a living or at least a second income online, but only if they first understand the basic business models for online writing. There are really only two, if you take it in broad strokes. And just about any writer can learn to work either model!
I am making two assumptions here. First, that you’re a writer and second that you are at least vaguely or theoretically interested in making money as a writer online. So what do you do next?

Taking online courses to finish or start a teaching degree is a great way to go.
Learning is the backbone of any person’s life, career, and growth. That
is why it is important for well rounded teachers to get their education
too. Many people don’t have the schedules to pursue an elementary
teaching degree, but with the growth of online school programs, it is
becoming more and more available for anyone to go back to school, even
want-to-be teachers.
