At schools of healing arts, students gain a wealth of knowledge and practical skills regarding practices in natural and alternative medicine therapies. Among the more popular certification courses are massage therapy, acupressure, holistic health, iridology, and aromatherapy, and others.
Schools of healing arts that offer training programs in massage therapy generally include a curriculum in anatomy, physiology, and pathology; with hands-on training in common bodywork modalities like deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, and sports massage. However, more advanced training modules at schools of healing arts include diverse massage methods like soft tissue release, craniosacral therapy, myofascial release, shiatsu, polarity therapy, prenatal/infant massage, and more.

“These programs may take up to two years to complete, and often require prerequisite education from an accredited school or university.”
The unique aspect of courses in herbology is that while students may enroll at a physical campus, there is a number of growing home study courses that are available to the homebound student or working adult learner.
Though curricula and program length may vary in holistic health schools, common studies included in courses in herbology are anatomy, physiology, nutrition, health and herbs
; herbal properties, herbal preparations, herb identification, herbal cultivation, and cooking with herbs, among others.
